Supervision is a quintessential interpersonal interaction with the general goal that one person, the supervisor, meets with another, the supervisee, in the effort to make the latter more effective in helping people.

I love to support, supervise and work with students and newly qualified Hypnotherapy or Regression therapists and usually suggest 1 or 2 hours of skype/zoom supervision 3 or 4 times a year.

Although that can, of course, be adapted to suit each individual and circumstances that arise.

Do check the recommendations from the GHR below...

I charge £50 for each skype session and provide you with a GHR Supervision receipt.

Please email me for more information and to set up your first session.

Testimonials

Supervision with Hazel:

"The supervision with Hazel was amazing :-). It was so easy to book, and very accessible. I felt this inviting feeling, at a moment where I needed some much welcome guidance and wisdom from a warm teacher.

I came to a point where I didn't know how to move forward/start with my career, and Hazel shared many ideas. Through deep listening, she was able to help me see obstacles in the way of establishing myself as a practitioner. Identifying those blocks enabled Hazel and I to work on them in a separate session.

I now feel much more back on "track" and able to focus clearly on the future. I really look forward to opening the doors to my clients.

A deep thank you Hazel,

Much love,

Isabelle xxx"

I fully recommend Hazel as a tutor and supervisor.

She was an excellent tutor for Foundation and Advanced Hypnotherapy courses and currently she is my supervisor. We have our supervision sessions over Skype which makes it very convenient and accessible.

Hazel is a highly skilled and experienced therapist, warm and easy to work with, with a wealth of knowledge and experience to share. She wants the very best for all of her students.

Hazel will help you to think outside the box, to see options and approaches you may not have considered. She is very supportive and thorough and I always value having her to refer to for advice .

She has sensitivity and humour and it is always a pleasure to spend time in her company.

Supervision & CPD Policy

Supervision Policy

PNewly qualified Registrants are expected to engage in this beneficial process for a minimum of 2 hours in any 3 month period during their first 2 years of practice. Thereafter, although ongoing Supervision is encouraged, it becomes a voluntary process. Supervision may be conducted via one-to-one, a peer support group or a telephone / e-mail arrangement where circumstance dictates. Whichever method is employed, Registrants are advised to maintain a personal log of all such activity as they may be asked to provide suitable evidence of the previous 12 months supervision at the time of their annual re-registration. To facilitate this you may download samples of the approved One to One Supervision Record Slip and Peer Support Groups Record Slip.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Policy

We define CPD as a range of learning activities through which professionals grow and develop throughout their careers to ensure that they retain their capacity to practise safely, effectively and legally within their evolving scope of practice. It is the method by which practising hypnotherapists may keep abreast of new developments and techniques within the field. Effective CPD should ensure that you stay up-to-date and safe to practise. The GHR bases its requirements on the premise that registered practitioners are professionals capable of making their own decisions about what best serves this purpose in relation to their own practice. As a result, we do not ‘approve’ or ‘validate’ specific activities but allow you to choose for yourself that which best meets your needs.

N.B. A regularly updated list of CPD courses is posted on the CPD for Therapists website.

CPD can therefore include a range of activities which contribute to your learning and which help you to learn and develop as a practitioner. You are able to choose how and when you complete your CPD. You are also able to select the types of activities you think will be of most benefit to you. A wide range of activities are recognised which you can count towards your CPD. These could include, for example:

Personal attendance at seminars & workshops (which may include workshops at conferences); Advanced training courses; Reading or writing articles; Internet research; Participation in research; Receiving supervision or mentoring which enhances learning and development; First aid and health & safety instruction; Marketing training and business development etc.

When deciding what to include in your CPD you need to consider how the activity will enhance your work as a practitioner and how you can demonstrate that. Some questions which may help you to decide which type of activities would be of most benefit to you might be:

  • What do I need to learn to improve the treatment or service I provide to my clients?

  • How can I keep up with current trends, new techniques and good practice?

  • Where and how could I do things better?

  • What do I need to know more about, should things go wrong?

  • What can I learn from observing other practitioners?

  • If I want to specialise in a particular area of practice, what types of activities would be most useful?

Whichever activities you decide to participate in, however, you will need to structure them to comply with the following:

  • You must aim to ensure that your CPD enhances your professional practice and improves the service provided to patients and clients.

  • You must complete a minimum of 25 hours CPD each year.

  • At least 15 hours CPD must be directly related to hypnotherapy.

  • You must complete a range of CPD activities, with no more than 8 of the total CPD hours spent on any single activity in one year.

  • You must keep an up-to-date log of your CPD activities with evidence to demonstrate your participation in each activity. (N.B. Registrants may be asked to provide suitable evidence of the previous 12 months CPD involvement at the time of their annual re-registration and to facilitate this you may download samples of approved, user-friendly CPD Data Sheets Pack.

  • Registrants who undertake CPD as a condition of their membership of other healthcare professions may apply to have this taken into account, providing that it remains compatible with and relevant to the practise of hypnotherapy.
